In a networked setting, the Knexus library provides a fast, simple and organized nexus for large amounts of widely scattered and potentially disorganzed files and data. For example, topically related files, say for instance, associated with a customer, project or subject, might reside in diverse locations all over the network. However, in the Knexus library, books linking to all these diversly located files can all be grouped together on a single shelf or bookcase in the Knexus library - without changing the actual locations of the files.

Since Knexus doesn't copy or change the actual locations of any of your existing files, it does not interfere with your already established operations and protocols. Instead, Knexus sits alongside you current system, and provides easy and organized access to otherwise widely scattered data.

Network Central Libraries
A Knexus Central Library simulates a single library accessible by several users. In reality, however, it is a network of client-side Knexus libraries all sharing a centralized library data base. The central library gives all users on the network a common interface and nexus-point to any of the network's files and resources.

On a network which already includes one or more network hard drives, it is a trivial operation to set up a central library.   If the network includes VPN support, then users can even log into the central library remotely.

Network Branch Libraries
Branch libraries are similar to personal libraries. They are created, managed and used by an individual network client. The library database resides on the user's own file space, but the books in each user's library link to files anywhere on the network (with permissions.)

Additionally, each individual can create and manage any number of personally-managed branch libraries. The result is a distributed ring of individually managed libraries which provide customized connectivity to all of the network's resources.

Customization
The Knexus software is flexible and adaptable to many network environments and configurations. But businesses and organizations may require features which are not built-in to the standard Knexus release. In that case, customization will be required and can be done by contacting a Knexus representative.
