	Knexus Tour		Knexus is a flexible and powerful, yet intuitively simple new interface to organize and access files and webpages from your computer.
			At the heart of Knexus is a virtual, 3D Library within which you can browse the contents of your computer much like you would browse a real library or bookstore. Using simple mouse or keyboard controls, you can move about in the virtual library from a first-person perspective. Look in any direction, and move about with complete freedom of movement to browse the shelves and examine the books.

Knexus brings clear management and organization to even the most scattered collections of files you can imagine.

Each book in the Knexus Library is a link to some specified digital object which can be anywhere that your computer has access. For example, the digital object may be a file located anywhere on your computer's hard disk. It might be a directory on another computer that shares your LAN, or a webpage or mp3 file half-way around the world on the Internet. A Knexus linking book will open the target file wherever it is and with whatever application is appropriate for the file.

The figure at left illustrates a collection of related files which are scattered all over the hard disk, LAN and Internet. Yet, linking books to all of these files can sit comfortably together on a single bookshelf in the Knexus Library for easy and organized access.

Clicking on any book in the Library will open the book and bring it to the forefront, showing a brief description of the file to which the book links.

Clicking on the blank page will return the book to the shelf, while clicking on the description page will open the file in the associated application. (It will open html files in your web browser, .doc files in your word processor, mp3s in your media player, etc.)

With just a little care, your library (and access to files) can be very well organized, even if the files to which your books link are scattered randomly all over your hard disk and the Internet.

	Creating linking books to put in the Knexus Library is a simple and intuitive process using the Knexus Publisher module. The Publisher can be invoked from the Desktop, your Firefox web browser or from within Knexus. You can then customize the appearance of each book by selecting it's size, color, title and other features with easy to use controls as shown below. When you are satisfied with the new book's appearance, Knexus transports you back to the Library where you can choose where you move through the Library and place the book right where you want it. Knexus also includes a Card Catalog feature which keeps track of each book in your library and provides key word searching of all the books. It even includes a map to show you where each book is located or you can open books directly from the Card Catalog. The Knexus Card Catalog back to top
